Colorado mechanical, plumbing, fuel gas & energy codes
Colorado has no statewide building or mechanical code, so cities and counties adopt their own. The State Plumbing Board sets statewide minimum plumbing and fuel gas codes. State law bars restrictions on acceptable refrigerants.
Quick answer: Colorado has no statewide mechanical code, so check the city or county. Plumbing and fuel gas follow the statewide 2024 IPC and IFGC-based Colorado codes (3 CCR 720-1, effective Apr 30, 2025). A2L status: Allowed by state law (HB22-1362)

A2L refrigerants in Colorado
C.R.S. 24-38.5-401(9), added by HB22-1362, says an 'acceptable refrigerant' (EPA SNAP-listed and installed under its use conditions) can't be prohibited or restricted by a locality, county or other state rule. AQCC Regulation 22 HFC limits still apply.
